Bio-IT World Podcast: Meeting Today’s Challenges with Complex Clinical Trials
Increasing complexity introduces new problems into the execution of trials. Yet complexity is characteristic of ever more intensive efforts to prove or disprove a study hypothesis, especially as more trials move from the treatment of acute to chronic conditions. The trend is evidenced by the fact that trials in 2009 were 42% more complex than in 2003. Certainly one of the challenges of clinical trials today is managing them to success in spite of their increasing complexity. In this podcast, Ken Getz, Senior Research Fellow, Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development and Lori Shields, Vice President, Data Operations at Medidata Solutions focus on the key issues that complexity introduces for sponsors and addresses means of managing the complexity to a successful trial conclusion. Learn how:
- Increasing trial complexity affects trial success
- To anticipate and manage trial hurdles
- To motivate trial progress through metrics
