Your Mission:
The Public Relations Director will strategically develop and execute Medidata’s global public relations strategy and executive communications. She/He will work closely with local and global PR agencies, regional PR teams, and Medidata subject-matter experts (SMEs) to promote the company’s news, products and thought leadership to external audiences. She/He will also manage internal communications and work closely with the Medidata leadership team.

Your Commitments:
Responsible for the strategy, planning and execution of all Public Relations and Communications for the company. This includes executive communications as well as all external and internal communications.
Develop local thought leadership themes that are relevant to the local life sciences industry, the available media landscape and to Medidata.
Lead a PR & Communications team to implement strategy and provide quality results.
Establish and execute the regional PR and communications strategy, closely aligned with Medidata corporate priorities and the interests of the local market.
Take an active role in supporting day-to-day media relations activities, including content creation, proactive pitching, scheduling media interviews, news / spokesperson bureau development, editorial calendar management, press release distribution, thought leadership events, analyst relations, research, planning and reporting.
Write, edit and coordinate press releases, blog posts, bylined articles, op-eds, memos, award submissions and other communication to support Medidata’s external communication initiatives for distribution through the media, company websites, social media channels, intranet, and third party sites platforms.
Work with Marketing teamsto promote content across platforms and to ensure consistency of messages and alignment with branding guidelines
Help to ensure Medidata’s presence at tech and life science trade events through research into event speaking opportunities; flagging opportunities for SMEs and assisting them in developing and submitting abstracts
Build and maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships internally with global teams and externally with third-party partners
Ensure external PR agency deliverables consistently meet deadlines and are completed within budget
Manage internal (and any necessary external) PR review / approval processes
Anticipate potential issues and implement appropriate actions to protect the company and its reputation
Monitor, research and report on regional industry trends, peer companies and media coverage
Track communication activities, maintain ongoing PR activity report and prepare updates for department, executives and others as needed
Manage internal communications for Medidata : defining the editorial calendar, the proper distribution of key messages internally as well as driving the town halls and company’s communications agenda.

Your Competencies:
Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, building and executing integrated communications programs that align with company objectives and produce significant results
Ability to design and produce multi-channel content programs for diverse audiences
Established relationships with relevant journalists, analysts and influencers
Extensive media and influencer campaign planning and execution experience, including setting up and managing media interviews
Familiarity with B2B audiences
Ability to manage to a budget, have a measured approach to demonstrate value of the communications team to the organization.
Flexibility and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and with multiple internal and external stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholder; influence and negotiation skills and relationship management capabilities a must
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
A can-do attitude, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
A strong work ethic, high level of integrity and sensitivity to confidential information
Ability to anticipate potential issues and develop / implement appropriate actions to protect the company and its reputation

Knowledge of life sciences and / or technology media (national, trade)
Availability to travel domestically and internationally within Asia and Europe up to 20%

Your Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree required, preferably in Communications, English, Journalism or a related field; or equivalent experience
MBA / Master’s degree a plus
Requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in corporate communications / public relations / media relations (preferably within an agency or a fast-growing company setting)
Experience in either life sciences / biopharmaceutical sector or technology industry required
