Your Mission:
In support of global and regional priorities, the PR & Communications Manager will assist the global PR lead in executing Medidata’s public relations strategy. He/she will work closely with our external PR agency and Medidata subject-matter experts (SMEs) to promote the company’s news, products and thought leadership to external audiences.


Your Commitments:
Take an active role in supporting day-to-day media relations activities, including industry trend research, content creation, proactive pitching, scheduling media interviews, news / spokesperson bureau development, editorial calendar management, press release distribution, thought leadership events and analyst relations.
Write, edit and coordinate press releases, blog posts, bylined articles, op-eds, memos, award submissions and other content to support Medidata’s external communication initiatives for distribution through the media, company websites, social media channels, intranet and third-party sites / platforms.
Work with Marketing colleagues to promote content across platforms and to ensure consistency of messages.
Proofread and enhance copy as needed to meet established tone and style requirements.
Provide perspective and insight to the department on internal, peer and industry developments in relation to the media and marketplace.
Help to ensure Medidata’s presence at tech and life sciences trade events through researching and flagging relevant speaking opportunities for SMEs, as well as assist in developing and submitting abstracts.
Build and maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships internally with global teams and externally with third-party partners.
Assist global PR lead in ensuring external PR agency deliverables consistently meet deadlines and are completed within budget.
Drive continuous improvement of processes, practices and impact of communications and public relations activities; educate Marketing and other internal teams about best practices.
Manage internal (and any necessary external) PR review / approval processes.
Anticipate potential issues and implement appropriate actions to protect the company and its reputation.
Monitor, research and report on broad industry trends, peer companies and media coverage.
Track communication activities, maintain ongoing PR activity report and prepare updates for the department, executives and others as needed.


Your Competencies:
Knowledge of life sciences and / or technology media (national, trade) and influencer sphere
Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, building and executing integrated communications programs that align with company objectives and produce significant results
Ability to design and produce multi-channel content programs for diverse audiences
Established relationships with relevant journalists, analysts and influencers
Extensive media and influencer campaign planning and execution experience, including setting up and managing media interviews
Familiarity with B2B audiences
Strong writing, editing and proofing skills
Experience in either life sciences / biopharmaceutical sector or technology industry required


Your Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Communications, English, Journalism; or equivalent years of experience
Requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, or Media Relations. Preferably within an agency or a fast-growing company setting.
